How to Jack

Wood care in three easy steps.

No chemistry degree required. Just you, Jack, and your wood.

01 — Oil

Feed the wood

Evenly apply Timber Tonic with a cloth, then wipe off the excess. Let it set at least an hour — or leave it overnight for deeper absorption. The oil penetrates deep to rehydrate and nourish from within.

Timber Tonic
02 — Wax

Seal the surface

Once the oil has dried, apply a thin layer of Stiff Shine with a cloth using circular motions. Let it set for 10 minutes, then buff to a smooth finish. The beeswax seals in the oil and adds a protective sheen.

Stiff Shine
03 — Maintain

Keep the glow

After the initial treatment, maintain your board with Rapid Rub every few weeks. Just rub it on, let it sit for a minute, and buff. Quick, easy, and your board stays happy.

Questions About Jack Wax?

Everything you need to know about keeping your wood in top shape.

About Jack Wax
What is Jack Wax? +
Jack Wax is our proprietary line of wood care products, formulated in our Cape Cod shop. It’s a blend of all-natural beeswax from the USA, food-grade mineral oil, and MCT coconut oil — plus carnauba wax in Stiff Shine — designed to hydrate, protect, and beautify wooden kitchen items.
Is Jack Wax food-safe? +
Absolutely. All Jack Wax products are made with food-grade ingredients that are completely safe for cutting boards, serving boards, salad bowls, and wooden utensils. No toxins, no harmful chemicals.
Which Jack Wax product should I use? +
For regular maintenance on a board that’s in good shape, use Rapid Rub — it’s a one-step blend. For new boards or boards that need restoration, use the two-step process: Timber Tonic (oil) first, then Stiff Shine (wax). The Jack Pack includes both.
Application & Care
How often should I apply Jack Wax? +
For daily-use cutting boards, apply Rapid Rub every 2–4 weeks or whenever the wood looks dry or dull. The full oil + wax treatment (Timber Tonic + Stiff Shine) is recommended seasonally, or when the board needs deeper restoration.
How do I apply Jack Wax? +
For Rapid Rub: scoop a small amount, rub it across the surface, let it sit for a minute, then buff with a clean cloth. For the two-step: evenly apply Timber Tonic, wipe off the excess, then let it set at least an hour — up to overnight. Once dry, apply Stiff Shine in circular motions, wait 10 minutes, then buff to a shine.
Can I use Jack Wax on other wood items? +
Yes! Jack Wax is designed for any kitchen wood — cutting boards, charcuterie boards, serving boards, salad bowls, wooden spoons, and utensils. If it’s wood and it touches food, Jack’s got you covered.
