A block like this deserves a good rub.

Jack Wax is our food-safe beeswax blend. A regular rub (every few uses or every few weeks) keeps your board fresh and hydrated. For heavy duty users, consider our Jack Pack.

Everything you need to know about custom orders, our boards, and care.

About Custom Orders
How long does a custom order take? +
Most Wooded Designs orders ship within 2–3 weeks. Each board is built from scratch using the same careful process as our Single Edition boards — we don’t cut corners to speed things up.
Can I customize the design or wood species? +
Our Designs collection features signature patterns with curated wood combinations. If you’re looking for something fully custom, reach out — we’re happy to discuss special requests.
What sizes are available? +
Each design comes in multiple sizes. Select your preferred size on the product page to see dimensions and pricing.
What happens after I order? +
You’ll receive an order confirmation immediately. We’ll reach out if we have any questions, then your board enters our production queue. You’ll get a shipping notification with tracking once it’s on its way.
About Our Boards
What makes end-grain cutting boards different? +
End-grain boards expose the cut ends of wood fibers on the cutting surface. Your knife slips between fibers instead of slicing across them — so the board is gentler on blades and self-heals minor cut marks over time. Compare that to long-grain boards (also called edge-grain, face-grain, or flat-grain), where your knife cuts across the fibers — dulling blades faster and leaving permanent score marks.
What wood species do you use? +
We work primarily with hard maple, walnut, and cherry — dense, closed-grain hardwoods that are food-safe, durable, and beautiful. We also work with rarer species like hickory and exotics like padauk and canarywood for boards that call for something bolder. Each species is chosen for its density, stability, and how it plays with the pattern design.
Why are your boards so thick? +
Thickness prevents warping — we follow our Rule of 8 Inches. For every 8 inches of width, we add 1 inch of thickness — for durable boards that stay flat. That mass gives you a stable, solid surface that won’t slide around while you work. It also means the board can be sanded and refinished multiple times over decades of use.
Can I add a juice groove? +
Yes — juice grooves are available as a build option on most Designs. Select it on the product page when configuring your board.
Quality & Care
Is the quality the same as Single Edition boards? +
Absolutely. Every Wooded Designs board is built using the same materials, techniques, and attention to detail as our one-of-a-kind pieces. The only difference is that Designs are repeatable patterns built to order.
What finish do you use? Is it food-safe? +
Every board gets our Jack Wax two-step: warmed Timber Tonic to deeply hydrate the wood, then multiple coats of our wax compounds to seal it. Both are made with food-grade mineral oil, coconut oil, and beeswax — our finishing wax adds a touch of natural carnauba for extra sheen. No polyurethane, no synthetics, nothing you wouldn’t want near your food.
How do I care for my cutting board? +
Rinse with water and a mild soap or vinegar-based detergent after use — never put it in the dishwasher. Store it upright so air circulates on both sides. Re-oil with mineral oil or Jack Wax every few weeks (or whenever the wood looks dry). With basic care, your board will last a lifetime.
Can I refinish or repair my board? +
Absolutely. Minor scratches and knife marks can be sanded out with fine-grit sandpaper. Then re-oil to hydrate the wood and re-wax to seal the surface. Our Jack Pack has everything you need for a refresh.
Shipping & Returns
How is my board shipped? +
Free ground shipping on all cutting boards within the US, via UPS or FedEx. Boards are wrapped in protective materials and boxed securely. You’ll receive tracking as soon as it ships.
What is your return policy? +
Because each board is built specifically for you, we can’t accept returns for change of mind. But we stand behind our craftsmanship with a 90-day warranty covering defects like cracking or warping. If something’s not right, reach out — we’re a small team and we’ll work with you.
