What is Jack Wax?

Jack Wax is our house-made line of wood conditioners designed for cutting boards, charcuterie boards, and wooden kitchen items. We offer three products: Timber Tonic (liquid oil for deep conditioning), Rapid Rub (soft wax for regular maintenance), and Stiff Shine (hard wax for a polished finish).

Is Jack Wax food-safe?

Absolutely. All Jack Wax products are made with carefully sourced food-grade ingredients including beeswax from New England suppliers, food-grade mineral oil, all-natural coconut (MCT) oil, and carnauba wax. Your board stays safe for food prep.

Which Jack Wax product should I use?

For regular maintenance on a board in good shape, use Rapid Rub—it's our soft wax blend with higher oil content for quick touch-ups. If your board is dry, worn, or brand new, start with Timber Tonic to deeply hydrate the wood, then follow with Stiff Shine for a polished, protective finish.

Application & Care

How often should I apply Jack Wax?

We recommend applying Rapid Rub about once a month, or after roughly a dozen wash cycles—whenever your board starts looking dry or the finish feels less smooth. Boards that see heavy use may need more frequent care.

How do I apply Jack Wax?

For Rapid Rub and Stiff Shine, rub a small amount onto your clean, dry board using a cloth or your hands. Buff in circular motions until you get a nice sheen. For Timber Tonic, apply a generous coat and let it soak in overnight, then wipe off any excess and follow with wax.

Can I use Jack Wax on other wood items?

Yes! Jack Wax works great on wooden bowls, utensils, butcher blocks, and other kitchen woodenware. If it's wood and it touches food, Jack Wax will keep it happy.

General Care

How should I clean my cutting board?

Wipe off crumbs, rinse with water, apply a gentle soap solution, scrub lightly, rinse thoroughly, and dry with a clean towel. Never put your board in the dishwasher—it's the fastest way to destroy it.

How should I store my board?

If your board doesn't have feet, store it standing on edge so both faces get air circulation—this keeps it flat and stable. Boards with feet can be stored flat. Avoid wet countertops or anywhere moisture can sit against the wood.
